Types of Air Transport

Air transport plays a vital role in global logistics, offering speed and efficiency to move goods quickly and safely.

Within this mode, there are different types of transport, each with specific characteristics and purposes.

Inbound:

Logistics that passes through another country before reaching its final destination.

A common example is when a cargo leaves China and stops in Miami, where customs clearance takes place without nationalizing the cargo. In this case, a new master number is generated, and a document is created in Miami.

Values, invoices and other documents remain the same.

This option is recommended when the cargo is extremely urgent and there are no direct routes available. However, due to the complexity of the logistics involved, this type of transport tends to be more expensive and is generally reserved for situations where urgency outweighs the additional cost.

Charter:

Refers to the charter of an entire aircraft for a non-scheduled commercial air transport operation. This option offers flexibility in terms of times, origin and destination, allowing adjustments according to demand.

A company or individual rents the entire cargo capacity of an aircraft to transport its goods. This is especially useful for very large or sensitive loads that require special attention during transport.

Charter Party:

Type of operation is also non-regular, but involves contracting only a part of an aircraft’s cargo capacity, allowing consolidation with other cargo. This is a more economical option for companies that do not need the entire capacity of an entire aircraft.

Triangulation:

Triangulation occurs when a cargo is closed in Brazil, but shipped from another country, without passing through the national territory.

It can be advantageous in terms of cost or in situations where there are restrictions or complications for direct transport from Brazil.

It requires careful planning to ensure efficient operation and compliance with customs regulations.

Air & Sea:

Air and sea transport, known as Air & Sea is a form of intermodal transport in which merchandise is initially transported by air and then transferred to a ship for the last stage of transport.

It combines the speed of air transport with the economics of sea transport, offering an effective solution for goods that are not so urgent, but still require speed and efficiency.
